03 Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Readers! The transport industry is one of the pillars of the modern economy. It plays a key role in supply chains and ensuring the smooth movement of goods on a global scale. The condition of transport also indicates the level of development of the economy - a large scale of transport shows that a country is developing dynamically, making investments, building new infrastructure, motorways, etc., while a smaller scale of transport can be one of the signs of an economic slowdown. We at ISTRAIL know this very well, as we have been developing innovative solutions for the transport industry for over 100 years in Norway and over 20 years in Poland. ISTRAIL Sp. z o.o. was established in 2003 as a subsidiary of the Norwegian company ISTRAIL AS, whose traditions date back to 1916. Continuing the rich traditions of the parent company based in Norway, we specialise in the production of truck chassis bodies. Our plant in Golub-Dobrzyń, in the heart of northern Poland, produces trailers, semi-trailers, bodies, equipment and steel structures for trucks. Our products are mainly sold to customers in Norway, Sweden and Germany. In the past, we carried out projects for the Polish market, but the intensive development and growing demand from the Scandinavian markets made us focus on serving them. Now, with the dynamic growth of the company, we want to re-establish cooperation with customers in Poland and expand our activities to other European markets. Why do customers choose ISTRAIL-branded products? ISTRAIL stands for high quality and reliability. We do not compromise when developing bodies, trailers and semi-trailers, because we know that quality and reliability are key elements for our transport customers. ISTRAIL offers a wide range of customisation options. Each of our products is tailored to the needs of a particular company, customer or task. We take into account input from our customers at every stage of the production process, so that the vehicles leaving our production line are tailored to their needs. ISTRAIL is all about an individual approach to the customer. Our focus is always on the customer and their opinions, requirements, requests and needs. We take an individual approach to each and every order, because we know that working in partnership brings results and allows us to build lasting business relationships. In front of you is the first edition of the magazine ‘ISTRAIL News’. It is addressed to all those who work in transport or run transport companies. In this and the following issues, you will find industry articles, but also a wealth of practical information on ISTRAIL products: technical specifications, intended use and characteristics of the solutions we develop. We are confident that our periodical will be a source of expertise related to our industry. Best regards Dariusz Gębarowski Chief Executive Officer ISTRAIL sp. z o.o. Continuing the rich traditions of the parent company based in Norway, we specialise in the production of bodies for truck chassis. At our plant in Golub- -Dobrzyn, in the heart of northern Poland, we manufacture: trailers, semi-trailers, bodies, equipment and steel structures for trucks.
ISTRAIL sp. z o.o. was established in 2003 as a subsidiary of the Norwegian company ISTRAIL AS. The traditions of ISTRAIL AS date back to 1916. In the post-war period, the company was one of the leading manufacturers in heavy industry. Meanwhile, a subsidiary was established in Ulefoss, Norway, specialising in the assembly of containers on chassis produced by the parent company and a sales representative office from Tanzania. Innovative solutions for the transport industry 04 Initially, ISTRAIL’s production site in Poland was located in Skępe in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship. In October 2004, the headquarters and production plant were relocated to Golub-Dobrzyń, where the company still operates today. What do we do? ISTRAIL’s core business is based on the manufacture of trailers, semi-trailers, bodies, equipment and steel structures for heavyduty vehicles. We are a certified manufacturer of components for Scania CV and equipment for NATO. We are successively expanding our customer base and establishing new business relationships with transport companies - primarily in Poland and Scandinavia. ABOUT US

06 Thanks to our comprehensive range, we are the perfect partner for transport companies specialising in services for specific sectors of the economy, such as road construction. For subcontractors of road construction contracts, we can supply a complete range of vehicles and bodies covering most of their needs: special semi-trailers and trailers for asphalt transport, low loaders for the transport of heavy Bodies and trailers are our speciality. For decades, we have been exploring the technology behind their manufacture, looking for innovative solutions to increase load capacity, improve functionality and extend service life. We are able to achieve these goals in various product segments: from tippers mounted on trucks, tipper trailers and semi-trailers (including many variants of the ‘bathtub’ popular in Poland), low-loader trailers and semi-trailers, box-bodies and container bodies to so-called hook-lifts and swap bodies. Many needs, one supplier equipment, as well as tipper bodies for off-road lorry chassis to move earth, rubble, asphalt road construction waste, etc. Solutions for transport companies Road construction is just one of the many industries in which ISTRAIL products are proving their worth. Swap bodies are a way of reducing costs. For example, one chassis can be used during the growing season to transport woodchip branches from tree maintenance and in winter to spread sand and salt. Hooklift-type bodies offer similar functions, with the added option of fast loading without the need for a crane. Another of the many possibilities are containers with a reinforced construction, suitable for transporting scrap metal, rubble, waste and recyclable materials. We offer all this in true Scandinavian style: our products are simple yet sophisticated, functional and durable, high quality yet affordable. We produce for drivers and hauliers because we understand their needs and point of view best. This is our business DNA. INDUSTRY A recipe for successful cooperation This has many advantages: one contract, one supplier, attractive prices and simple financing. Add to this the compatibility of many components, specialised service, friendly and competent advisers who know the intricacies of the operation of all our products, and you have a recipe for successful cooperation.
07 Many European drivers are surprised by the appearance and design of the trucks and trailers they encounter on Norwegian roads when they first visit Norway. This is due to the fact that one of the Scandinavian specialities is the considerably higher permissible gross vehicle weights of trucks and trailers than in southern Europe. Norway For example, on some roads in Norway, 60 tonne trailer combinations are permitted, provided that they are 24 metres long. You will therefore find trailers with drawbars that are considerably longer than those we are used to in Poland, for example. A relatively short trailer towed by a lorry may have a drawbar length in excess of 4 m. On the rest of Norway’s roads, the maximum permissible gross weight of a lorry with trailer or truck tractor with semitrailer is 50 tonnes, 10 tonnes more than in Poland. Sweden and Finland Sweden has gone even further. Vehicles with a total weight of up to 64 tonnes can be driven on most roads there, and up to 74 tonnes on selected roads. In Finland, on the other hand, combinations of vehicles with a total weight of 76 tonnes and a length of 34.5 m can drive virtually anywhere. Poland Polish standards, compared to the examples cited, are not impressive. As a reminder: the length of a lorry must not exceed 12 m, and 16.5 m for a tractor unit with semi-trailer. The maximum length of a three-vehicle combination (car and two trailers) is 22 metres. Still, this is a far cry from Scandinavian standards. ISTRAIL - a synonym for quality There are some important lessons to be learned from these differences. Firstly, when producing bodies The homeland of ISTRAIL is Scandinavia. Since the company’s inception, we have been producing trailers and bodies tailored to the specific road conditions of Norway, Sweden and Finland. Scandinavian quality on Polish roads INDUSTRY and trailers for Scandinavian customers, we do not economise on the strength of the materials, because this is the only way to guarantee the highest quality for such large combination vehicles. We apply the same principle to vehicles and bodies intended for the Polish market. Brake systems, suspensions or tipper body drives that perform well in Scandinavia will also perform well in other countries. Secondly, some designs found on the second-hand market in Scandinavia are not suitable for use in Polish conditions, as their dimensions do not fit within the limits applicable in Poland. For this reason, we produce vehicle and body variations tailored to the needs of local hauliers. Our customers benefit from this in a unique way: constructions designed for very high loads after ‘slimming down’ are extremely robust, which translates into: longer service life, fewer breakdowns and greater resistance to overloading.
